One thing I’m excited about this fall is trying out new trends that compliment my style. With that being said, let’s talk about midi skirts!
I found this adorable skirt at Ruche and completely fell head over heels for it. I’ve had it in my closet for a couple of days now and been pondering on which type of shoes to wear with it. Doubts began to reel in leaving me thoughts like, “Can I pull it off?” “Will I drown in this?” “Can I make it work?” Then, a new issue.
There’s this misconception that shorter women don’t look right wearing skirts passed their knees. Why? Well, I’m aware that the length of the skirt can make you appear stumpy, however, the trick is to wear high heels (at least 2″) that gives the illusion that your legs are longer. My recommendation? If you’re wearing a midi skirt, stick with heels that have a thinner strap to show off more skin giving your look a complete balance.
For the rest of the look, I chose an oxblood “top” (it’s actually a dress) with a peter pan collar for a vintage/classic feminine look. It’s safe to say that I was unconsciously channeling my inner “Zooey Deschanel.”
Don’t allow your body to create limitations for you. Simply bringing confidence to any look will make it work!!
